A Gynecomastia surgery is a procedure that takes an average duration of 1 hour. After the procedure, the patient is monitored as an inpatient for 24 hours.
After surgery, a hospitalization of the patient will not be necessary, unless the patient asks for it. In that case, the patient will be accommodated in the Quirónsalud Málaga Hospital and will be provided with the best possible care.
A Gynecomastia surgery is performed under general anesthesia.

The results can be monitored right after the surgery, although it takes about a month to six weeks for the patient to return to their normal routine.
Gynecomastia surgery is performed to reduce the size of the male breasts. The breast contours are flattened and enhanced. The surgery is technically referred to as a reduction mammaplasty.
In severe cases of gynecomastia, the weight of excessive breast tissue can cause male breasts to sag and the areola to stretch. In these cases, which are often emotionally distressing for the patient, the position and size of the areola can be surgically embellished and the excess skin reduced to help the patient feel more confident and comfortable in their body.
